Fetal development week 17

By week 17, your baby has grown to a size of 4-5 inches in length.  The baby will begin to develop more fat on its body for warmth. During this phase of your pregnancy, you may for the first time notice a slight bulge in your abdomen, and an average of 5-10 pound increase in weight.

Fetal development week 19

In the nineteenth week of your second trimester, your baby will weigh approximately 7 ounces. You may experience lower abdominal pains and swelling of hands and feet. It is important to take care of yourself in this phase as the burden on your lungs, heart and kidneys increases due to the growth of your baby.

Fetal development week 20

In week 20, the baby begins to respond to sounds and noises from the outside. You may a experience increased movement of your baby within you. The skin of your baby will become thicker and nerve cells will begin to develop. On the other hand, it is important that you get the proper rest as the pressure on your urinary tract increases. Your baby will also develop fine hair during this week of your pregnancy.
