Editing Shortcut Properties in Microsoft Windows 95 and Windows NT
Are you an ISIS/Draw user who saves frequently-used templates in a special folder? Or, are you an ISIS/Base user who organizes all of your remote access files (RAFs) in a specific location? Would you like to save time and mouse-clicks by having direct access to these folders when you select File > Open? You can—by creating a shortcut for the application and customizing the shortcut properties. Follow these instructions and ISIS will start in the folder that you specify.
Shortcuts
When you create a shortcut for ISIS/Base 2.1.4 or ISIS/Draw 2.1.4 (see How to Create ISIS Shortcuts), the default Start in directory is set to the same location as the file that you used to create the shortcut. For example,

Once you have created a shortcut, you can change its properties. Before you edit your ISIS shortcuts, close all sessions of ISIS/Base and ISIS/Draw.
To edit the properties of a shortcut, right-click on the shortcut icon. A list of available options will appear. Scroll down the list and left-click on Properties. The Properties window opens. Select the Shortcut tab. Find the path in the Start in field. Type the full path of the folder in which you would like to start searching. For example,
C:Program FilesISIS214SamplesBase Click the Apply button to save the new Start in folder path.
Verify the change
Now that you have edited the shortcut, you will want to test it to ensure that it is working as desired. Double-click on the ISIS/Base (or ISIS/Draw) shortcut icon. Select File > Open. Confirm that the folder name that is displayed is the one that you specified.
When to use your edited shortcut
A note of caution—if you want ISIS/Base or ISIS/Draw to start in the default directory that you specified in the shortcut, you must start the program using the shortcut that you modified. When you launch ISIS/Base or ISIS/Draw using Start > Program Files > ISIS_Base (or ISIS_Draw), Windows 95 and Windows NT will not detect the Start in path that you specified in the shortcut. Shortcuts maintain their newly edited properties regardless of where you copy and paste them, that is, on your desktop or in a specific folder.
