As a member of the Sales Team in Europe, you will represent MDL's products and services for the drug discovery process to prospects and customers in the Southern Region. We are looking for a self-motivated and highly organized individual who will be responsible for managing existing MDL Key Accounts, growing sales revenues by selling to new customers and upgrading existing licenses. This position requires at least 3 years experience successful selling of scientific software solutions to the life science R&D; market.


  • Identify, qualify and acquire new business, as well as maintain current customer relationships

  • Generate new license revenue (an assigned quota)

  • Prepare and deliver sales presentations mapping MDL's capabilities to solutions to customer problems

  • Provide information on customers' needs for chemical information solutions to the various product development groups (Beilstein and MDL)

  • Requires approximately 50% travel

Minimum Requirements:

  • 3-5 years experience selling information management systems or related high tech software and/or database products into the Life Sciences

  • Proven track record of delivery revenue against quota

  • Advanced scientific degree

  • Outstanding customer interaction skills

  • Excellent knowledge of pharmaceutical, agrochemical, and/or material science discovery process

Desired Requirements:

  • Good communication skills and team player

  • Fluent in English and French

  • Excellent PC knowledge

  • Knowledge of chemistry and client/server computing

  • Experience and knowledge of strategic selling methods
