Description:
In this position, you will be designing and building a chemical structure input tool, as part of a project for chemical structure and data entry from chemical patents. You will be applying and extending existing MDL technology for this purpose, as well as developing novel chemical structure representations. You will be located in MDL's Camberley UK office, and working closely with colleagues in our Frankfurt and US offices.
Responsibilities:
Minimum Requirements:
- At least 4 years of software engineering experience in a commercial environment, including object-oriented analysis and design
- Experience in GUI programming, and expert use of C++/MFC/COM and Visual Basic
- Degree in computer science, chemical information science, or equivalent
- Ability to work independently, as well as within a development team
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Strong personal drive to excel
Desired Requirements:
- Experience in web-based technologies, especially Java
- Experience with relational databases, especially Oracle
- Experience with MDL products or other life science software products
- Background in chemistry or a life science
